Essence Music Festival 2013

(Atlanta, GA) 15-year-old sci-fi author Stone Erickson speaks at the prestigious Bayou Soul Writers and Readers Conference during Essence Music Festival in New Orleans. Stone Erickson will captivate the audience with excerpts from his highly acclaimed first novel “Black Angel” and educate youth on the importance of literary. The youth literary event will be held on Tuesday July 3, 2013 10AM-9PM at The Marriot Courtyard Convention Center –Downtown located at 300 Julia ST New Orleans, LA.

Stone Erickson’s novel “Black Angel” paints a vivid story of Solomon Night, an average teen with a life shrouded in mystery who struggles with bullies at school and an abusive father at home. Stone Erickson uses this empowering tragedy relative to the issues teens face today such as bullying to inspire other youth across the country with “Black Angel.”

“I am really amped to speak to other kids at the Bayou Festival this year,” says Stone Erickson. Stone Erickson has previously spoken with the kids of the Boy and Girls Club to continue to spread the word on youth and literacy. “I want everyone to enjoy reading and writing as much as I do and see it as an escape into another world,” says Stone Erickson.

Stone Erickson is one of the youngest published authors in the country and released his first novel, “Black Angel” March 2013. In its first week of sales “Black Angel” soared to the top of Amazon’s list of best sellers. A passionate writer, Stone wrote his first full-length novel at the age of 12 and was signed to Delphine Publications by the age of 14. Combing his love for reading with his creative writing skills, Stone would examine his surroundings and utilize the personality traits of his friends, family, teachers and certain situations in his life, such as overcoming his parent’s divorce, to create his own literary fantasies. Stone is currently a high school freshman and has received numerous awards and accolades for his academic performance.

The Bayou Soul Writers and Readers Conference is slated for Tuesday July 3, 2013 10AM-9PM at The Marriot Courtyard Convention Center –Downtown located at 300 Julia ST New Orleans, LA.
